Project Introduction

LINK is the local cryptocurrency for Chainlink, a decentralized network of prognostic machines, used to pay node operators. Chainlink has a reputation system where a large number of node operators with LINK can get more contracts, and if the node operators cannot deliver accurate information, their tokens will be reduced. The developers call LINK an ERC-20 token, but it adds the 'transport and call' functionality (address, Uint256, bytes) of the ERC-233 protocol that allows tokens to be received and processed by the contract in a single transaction. After a $32 million ICO in 2017, 32 percent of LINK tokens were sent to node operators to spur ecosystem growth, with 30 percent remaining within Chainlink for development (35 percent for public sale).
